Ovia Health's maternity & family benefits solution extends to preconception and reproductive health, with clinical programs specifically designed to support endometriosis education and management. We're committed to supporting women and families throughout their health and parenthood journeys with personalized guidance and information to help them live healthier lives. March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, so we wanted to spend a little time talking about this condition and how Ovia Health provides endometriosis support.
Endometriosis is a reproductive health condition that affects 1 in 10 women — approximately 6 ½ million women in the U.S. It can be difficult to identify, and, when diagnosed, it may need to be treated with hormone therapy or surgery. By helping identify endometriosis earlier and providing support for managing the condition, Ovia Health is reducing the time it takes for women to receive diagnoses and start treatment and management.
This is especially important for fertility in two ways. 1) Because endometriosis can cause infertility, it's important to diagnose it early and start treatment as soon as possible, and 2) when women are informed about their reproductive health and potential health conditions, they can also rule out conditions like endometriosis, avoid being misdiagnosed as infertile, and bypass unnecessary and expensive fertility treatments that cost, on average $15,000.
How does it work?
Ovia Health's Endometriosis Education program empowers women to learn more about endometriosis, identify the signs and symptoms, and — if they think endometriosis might be affecting them — advocate for themselves with their healthcare providers.
Our Endometriosis Management program continues education about endometriosis and is tailored to women who have received a diagnosis. We provide support and advice on how to manage the condition.
All Ovia Health programs include predictive health prompts that ensure that participants are enrolled in personalized programs relevant to their health and engaging with those programs. The Endometriosis Education & Management programs use predictive health prompts to identify participants who might have endometriosis and direct them to the appropriate resources, in addition to providing helpful articles and tips. Our Ovia Health Coaches are also available every day to provide support and guidance, and reach out proactively when a participant sees a critical alert or needs more information.
