1. Do your night right
Deep sleep is incredibly important. It gives your body the opportunity to heal, and is a powerful part of regulating your hormones. When you’re rested, you’ll feel better. Consider cutting late night television, or any activity that has you staring into a bright screen before bed. Treat your hour before sleep as a time to wind down.
You can read a book (not a tablet!), maybe write, or prepare some food for the next day. If there are any chores you actually find relaxing, doing them before bed will help calm you down and give you a feeling of accomplishment right before sleep.
2. Hydrate
If you’re getting a full night’s sleep, that means your body has been fasting for around eight hours, which is a pretty long time to go without any food or water. A lot of people experience morning tiredness because of dehydration.
Try drinking a tall glass of water. If you’re a mom who is missing her morning coffee, or you just need something extra to get your body moving in the morning, we recommend the nutritionist developed Boost it Up!™, a pregnancy friendly, protein containing, caffeine-free, energy drink from our partners at healthy mama®. It’s delicious, only 80 calories, and most importantly, it’s designed to hydrate you with electrolytes. We’re big fans of all natural Boost it Up!™ because it actually provides energy from protein and B-vitamins, which is a big improvement over sugar-filled sports drinks.
If you haven’t heard about healthy mama®, their products contain no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners, no preservatives, no gluten, no high fructose corn syrup, and are caffeine-free. Maybe that’s why their drinks taste so good?
3. Seriously Stretch
If you’ve got a morning yoga routine then perfect, keep it up! If not, no sweat. You don’t need a whole routine, but spending a few minutes getting limber while you’re still in bed can help you start your day off right.
Focus on stretching out your fingers and toes, then your arms and legs, and finally your head and neck. When you sit up, do a few leans that stretch out your back. Keep breathing deeply throughout your whole routine. Getting limber gets the blood pumping, draws oxygen to your muscles, and helps produce a little adrenaline, which tells the brain it’s time to wake up.
4. Give yourself a goal
Pick something you can for sure accomplish that day. Maybe it’s something work related, or to do a load of laundry, or to spend 10 minutes walking around the block at some point.
It might feel silly at first, but these daily successes will start to feel great. Sometimes it seems like we’re not accomplishing anything, but by starting your day with a goal, then completing it, you’ll see all the little things you do get done every day. Maybe try saying your goal out loud, or pick a goal with your partner so you can hold each other accountable.
5. Take the perfect prenatal
Regularly taking a prenatal vitamin is one of the most important things you can do for baby’s development. Start your morning right with a vitamin that has everything you need, with none of the discomforts that you don’t. Be Well Rounded!™ from healthy mama® contains all the additional nutrients you need, including folic acid and DHA, to help with baby’s growing brain and nervous system. Unlike other vitamins, Be Well Rounded!™ contains Ferrochel Iron which reduces constipation and gastric upset, and they won’t cause those dreaded fish burps like other prenatals with DHA.
These vitamins are gluten free, contain no artificial color, flavor, dyes, sweetener, lactose, or shellfish and are small in size so they’re easy to swallow. You’ve got to take a prenatal every day, so why dread one of the first things you’ll do? Be Well Rounded!™ is a healthy and distress-free way to kick off your day.
The time you invest in getting your mind and body ready for the day ahead will pay you back in less stress and a lot more joy. For a better prenatal, try Be Well Rounded!™. If you need a lift in your morning, grab yourself some Boost it Up!™. We think you’ll be surprised at how great you’ll feel.
