Slideshow: 4 ways to wear baby and why
Babywearing is a fantastic alternative to everyday strollers or lugging your baby around in a car seat. A carrier allows you and your child to safely explore the world while bonding with lots of eye contact, touching, as many forehead kisses as you’d like.
There are four primary ways to “wear” your baby with an Ergobaby Four-Position 360 Baby Carrier. Our partners at Ergobaby have supplied some great examples of what each carry method looks like.

Front Inward Carry:
This is the most common way to wear your baby and is ideal for a newborn. The Front-Face-In carry, with baby’s body in the ergonomic “frog-leg” position, is the best way to carry an infant younger than 6 months. This way they can see your face, help regulate themselves with your warmth and your heartbeat, and access your breasts if a little nursing is in order.

Front Outward Carry:
For young babies, environments can be overstimulating. They can’t see very far in front of their face, and really all they want to look at is you. However, there will come a time when your baby will begin to signal (by turning their head and making an effort to look around) that they’re ready to explore the world with you. At that time you can start carrying Front Outward with confidence.

Back Carry:
This style of carrying can only be used when a baby is strong enough to support their head on their own, and comfortably sit with their legs wide around your waist. As your baby grows, a Back Carry position is likely to be used a lot as it’s easier to carry a heavier baby for longer periods of time. Baby will surely enjoy the view from up there!

A carrier that does it all
Our partners at Ergobaby are an industry leader with their cozy, safe, and versatile soft-structure carriers. The signature feature of an Ergobaby carrier is their bucket seat designed to keep your baby in the frog-leg, seated position and their spine in the optimal “C” shape.
The most recent addition to their line is the Four-Position 360 Baby Carrier which allows you to easily carry your baby in any of the positions mentioned in this slideshow. If you’ll be carrying your newborn, you’ll want to pick up an infant insert for a safer fit.
