Preparing for your trip home from the hospital

You might think that getting to the hospital will be the most stressful ride you’ll take for a long time. We hate to break it to you, but getting home could be even more nerve-wracking. No need to fear though, we know how to set you up for success with the right preparation, clothes, and car seat.

Before you leave

Try to get as much support and guidance as you can from the healthcare professionals taking care of you. They have a wealth of knowledge on everything from breastfeeding to baby care, and leaning on them will help you get the rest you need before you head home. You may even be able to take home some baby care freebies like diapers and nipple cream.

Dress for success

Though you may be eager to slip back into something fashionable, the ride home from the hospital probably isn’t the time. Instead, you’ll want to pack pants or shorts with a loose waistband and a comfortable top. Thanks to the recent rise of work-from-home culture, everyone is rocking sweatpants these days anyway.

For your baby, pack clothes that reflect what you would wear in the current weather. If you wear a t-shirt with a sweater, make sure that your baby also has two light layers to wear. If it’s cold outside, a warm hat and blanket are a good idea.

Get the right car seat

The most important item for a safe ride home is a car seat. It is never safe to hold your baby in a moving car, even on the shortest trips. In the weeks leading up to delivery, practice installing your car seat so you feel more confident when it’s time to take your new bundle home. If you haven’t yet found the right seat, look for one that is secure, adaptable, comfortable, and easy to use — like the Bugaboo Turtle Air by Nuna.

Designed in collaboration with premium car seat brand Nuna, the Bugaboo Turtle Air is a secure travel solution for transporting your baby from the very beginning. Its ultra-lightweight design is easy to lift and carry, plus it pairs seamlessly with any current Bugaboo stroller so you can transition from car to stroller and back. And with the sun canopy and smart visor creating a quiet, cocoon-like environment, you can ensure on-the-go naps remain undisturbed. Most importantly, the Bugaboo Turtle Air has been rigorously tested for security on the road.

From that first ride home from the hospital to all your daily road trips and excursions, with a bit of preparation — and the Bugaboo Turtle Air by Nuna — you’ve got this.
