Fertility treatment benefits through the TJX Blue Cross Blue Shield medical plan

Many specialists recommend that couples visit a fertility specialist after 1 year of trying for those under 35, and six months for those 35 or older. This visit is often instrumental in diagnosing and treating a couple’s fertility issues.

More than half of couples diagnosed with infertility are eventually able to conceive, simply through a bit more trying or with the assistance of infertility treatments that your plan may help to make more affordable.

Your benefits

The health plan offers infertility-related benefits so if you and your partner decide to seek infertility treatment, you may be able to receive special rates for infertility treatment. These covered services include:

  • Artificial insemination.
  • Sperm, egg and/or inseminated egg procurement and processing.
  • Banking of sperm or inseminated eggs
  • Infertility technologies (such as in vitro fertilization, embryo placement, and more).

BCBS covers medically necessary fertility treatments, though you must receive approval from both your healthcare provider and BCBS before coverage kicks in.

To learn more about your benefits, download the MyBlue app, visit bluecrossma.org, or see your copy of the FlexPlus Summary Plan Description.
