IUI overview

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a type of artificial reproductive technology (ART) that involves placing sperm cells directly into the uterus in a healthcare setting. IUI can be a great option for those struggling to conceive, especially due to things like a fallopian tube blockage, or sperm motility issues.

Many women in same-sex couples also choose IUI to conceive. Because sperm is placed directly into the uterus, it has a higher success rate than certain other ART methods, and is less expensive and involved than IVF.

You can reach out to your Ovia Health Coach to learn more about IUI to help you decide if it might be worth exploring with your provider. Your Ovia Care Team can also help you learn if your employer or health plan offers any fertility benefits.
