Symptom management

So you’re pregnant, and everything on or in your body is reacting to it! Well, the good news is that there are ways you can manage these symptoms.

Common pregnancy sign and symptoms include:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Headaches
  • Heartburn and indigestion
  • Breast changes
  • Fatigue
  • Frequent urination
  • Unusual cravings or distaste for foods you usually like
  • A persistent sour or metallic taste when you’re not eating
  • Back pain
  • Breathlessness
  • Constipation or hemorrhoids
  • Itchy skin
  • Leg cramps
  • Mood changes
  • Swollen, tingling, or numb body parts
  • Vaginal discharge, itching, or pain

Pregnancy symptoms vary by person and pregnancy. For instance, a person may experience severe morning sickness in the first trimester of their first pregnancy but no morning sickness at all during their second pregnancy.

To get some relief from most of these symptoms, speak with your healthcare provider. They will have recommendations for alleviating or even treating some of the signs and symptoms that are causing you pain, discomfort, or other unpleasant experiences.

The Ovia Care Team can help you better understand your symptoms and provide you with some preliminary information before you speak with your healthcare provider. They can also help you find resources available to you through your employer or health plan.
