Bloodshot eyes

Bloodshot eyes are red and dry eyes that can cause irritation and sensitivity to light.

What causes it?

The hormones that are coursing through your body have a number of side effects, one of which reduces the activity of your tear ducts. Your eyes depend on tears for moisturizing, and without an ample amount of fluid, they can become red and aggravated.

Tips?

You may want to avoid contact lenses if you start to experience bloodshot eyes, as they could further exacerbate your irritation. Certain eye drops could also help alleviate these symptoms, though make sure to consult a healthcare provider prior to purchasing, because some over-the-counter eye drops can aggravate the eyes even further.
